Main Ethnic Groups

Nepal has a population of more than 24 million people, which consists of different races and ethnic groups living in different regions, with diverse culture, languages and dialects.
The Gurungs and Magars live mainly in the west. The Rais, Limbus and Sunwars inhabit the slopes and valleys of the eastern mid hills.

The Newars are found mainly in the provincial towns like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Palpa. There are Tharus, Satars, Rajvanshis, Yadavas and Dhimals in the Terai region. The Brahmans, Chhetris and Thakuris are generally spread over all parts pf the Kingdom.
